Google AI Plus free for a year: how Pakistani students claim it

Checked 10 Oct 2026 · 5 sources

Google gives Pakistani university students 12 months of Google AI Plus for free. It's a good offer, but most guides you'll find describe last year's version, which was different. This one covers the current offer, the account mistake that blocks most people, and how to make sure you're not charged when the year ends.

What you get (and what you don't)

You get Google AI Plus: more Gemini use than the free plan, and 400 GB of storage shared across Drive, Gmail and Photos. It lasts 12 months from the day you claim it.

Not AI Pro, not 5 TB. In 2025 Pakistani students could claim AI Pro with 5 TB of storage, using their uni account and no card. That offer has ended. Videos and articles about it still rank high, so if a friend got 5 TB, that's why.

Google is also changing which Gemini models each plan includes. After you sign up, open the model picker in the Gemini app to see what your plan has today.

Before you start

  • Your personal Gmail, not your uni account. Accounts run by your university (Google Workspace), supervised accounts and children's accounts can't claim it.
  • No Google One plan already running. Offers don't stack. If you pay for Google One or you're in someone's family plan, cancel or leave it first.
  • A document, in case you're asked. It must show your full name, your university's name and a date from the last 3 months. A dated student card, a fee receipt, a class timetable or an enrollment letter all work.
  • A card with online and international payments turned on. See which card to use.

How to claim it

  1. 1Sign in to your personal Gmail in your browser. Sign out of your uni account so it doesn't get picked by mistake.
  2. 2Open gemini.google/students and start the student offer.
  3. 3Pick your university from the list. Type your name exactly as it appears on your document, in the same order.
  4. 4If it asks for proof, upload your document as a clear JPG, PNG or PDF.
  5. 5Add your card. You won't be charged now. The price after 12 months is shown on this screen, so note it.
  6. 6Put a reminder in your phone for 11 months from today. That's when you decide whether to keep paying.

If your university isn't in the list

Student checks for this offer run through SheerID, which keeps its own list of universities. If yours isn't there, use the "add your school" request on the same screen. That review can take up to 30 days.

Don't leave this until December. If your uni needs adding, send the request now.

How to avoid being charged after the year

The plan renews on its own at the full price, reported as about Rs 1,400 a month. If you don't want to pay, cancel before the 12 months are up:

  1. 1Go to one.google.com/settings with the same account.
  2. 2Open your membership and choose Cancel.
  3. 3Check your email for Google's cancellation message, and keep it.

Problems and fixes

"This offer isn't available for your account"
You're probably signed in with your uni account, or the account already has a Google One plan or belongs to a family group. Switch to a personal Gmail with no plan.
SheerID says it couldn't verify you
Make the name you typed match your document exactly, and use a document dated in the last 3 months. After a few failed tries you can get locked out, so fix the document before trying again.
Your card is declined
Turn on online and international use in your banking app, then try once more. If it fails again, use a different card rather than retrying the same one. Our card guide explains why.
Someone is selling an "activation" or a code
It's a scam. The offer is free and only Google can apply it to your account.
